For many years…

Juan Simón was founded at the beginning of the last century as a coaching inn, where the carriages transporting goods through the Belate pass would stop.

Over the years it became a roadside guesthouse and, in 1965 (when the first major refurbishment was carried out), it became the Hotel–Restaurant we know today.

Today it remains a stop for travellers eager to discover the area’s many attractions, or for pilgrims on the Way of St James (following the Baztan route), alongside the Roman road that ran past the Hermitage of Our Lady of Belate.

The rustic flavour of times past…

Juan Simón welcomes you in an atmosphere that preserves the rustic charm of the past, where you can rest in one of our 8 rooms (2 single and 6 double) with full bathroom, television, and a terrace or balcony to connect your rest with nature.

Our restaurant, presided over by a large open fireplace, has capacity for 80 people.
The friendly, close service will make your stay at our Hotel–Restaurant even more enjoyable.

Fresh ingredients and daily cooking

Traditional cuisine defines our style and supports the satisfaction of our guests.

Our dishes stand out for the freshness of the raw ingredients and the quality of daily preparation. Among our specialities: seasonal fresh vegetables or pochas (fresh white beans), red beans or fried starters; meats such as veal oxtail or seasonal game (wood pigeon); fish such as hake in koskera sauce or ajoarriero; and desserts such as cuajada sorbet, cuajada, Swiss roll, or cream-filled pastry rolls.
