More than mushrooms

More than mushrooms

A pioneering project that regulates overcrowding and prevents abuse in mushroom and fungi harvesting

Those interested in this activity must hold a harvesting permit allowing the collection of up to 8 kilos of mushrooms or fungi. There are different types of permits available: see full information on fees.

The Ultzama Valley Mycological Park also features an information point in Alkotz, where visitors can find detailed explanations about the many edible species in the area and receive guidance on the mushrooms they have collected.

Guided tours

Learn about mushroom ecology and forest species

One of the best ways to learn about mushroom ecology and the species found in our forests is to head out with our expert team of mycologists.

We organize guided outings throughout the year. At the end of winter we venture out in search of marzuolus, while autumn brings the great variety of mushrooms found in our beech and oak forests.

We share knowledge and experiences, learning about the main edible species while always promoting good practices in harvesting and consumption.

Mushroom Day

Taste the essence of mushrooms and fungi

Día del hongo en el valle

This is a long-standing tradition in the valley and one of its most important days. It is celebrated on a Sunday in October, although mushrooms can be enjoyed throughout the entire weekend.

An event that brings together mushroom enthusiasts, featuring a market with mycological products, artisans, and the truffle museum.

The central exhibition of fresh mushrooms, showcasing a wide variety of species, is one of the main attractions. Children can enjoy the play area, while visitors sample organic corn cakes with mushrooms and delicious mushroom-based pintxos prepared by the valley’s inns and restaurants throughout the weekend.

Open day

A closer look at the fascinating world of fungi

A fun-filled day packed with activities where everyone, whether familiar with mushrooms or not, can have a great time. Various activities take place at the information point, including a photographic exhibition, mushroom displays and forest elements with guided explanations at set times, a shop selling mycological products, magnifying glasses and microscopes with prepared samples, and supporting explanatory documents.

In addition, free mushroom harvesting passes are provided, and a consultation service is available throughout the morning.
