Auza

Let’s explore Auza

As you drive along the road that leads to Auza, you are struck by countless shades of green. The pastures, dense forests and mountains on the horizon are a true feast for the eyes.

The Arakil River divides the village, facing its stately houses and creating a unique setting. In the centre lies the square, the social heart of the village, which fills with children in summer.

Pueblo Auza

History / Art:

The Church of San Martín is unique and was built in the 18th century. As you enter, you are welcomed by a lovely garden with a very special, well-arcaded porch.

It also has a Romanesque-style altarpiece and several paintings in the same style, and the stone baptismal font stands out.

Nature:

Naturaleza Auza
Auza is known for its famous stud farm. On the way to Eltzaburu you will find a spectacular landscape inhabited mainly by horses, sheep and even alpacas. There are many birds around its lake. Depending on the season, you will see resident species—living in Ultzama all year round—as well as many migratory birds passing through. It is a circular route of about 5 km, suitable for the whole family. Along the walk you can enjoy magnificent views.

A proposal:

At the Auza inn you will have the pleasure of trying delicious traditional Ultzama dishes, presented with exquisite and modern flair.

The typical dish is charcoal-grilled steak, together with the area’s most traditional dessert: cuajada (curd).

Behind the inn there are many tracks. Following the main one, you will soon find a meadow full of goats and another meadow full of horses. The tracks are well signposted and, once you choose your destination, there is no risk of getting lost.
