An idyllic valley

Mountain peaks outline the gently rolling fields, whose endless shades of green bring countless nuances to meadows and forests; a valley where careful brushstrokes have shaped charming villages with grand farmhouses and wide balconies filled with flowers.

Fourteen villages make up the valley, a peaceful corner of Navarre that captivates visitors with its landscapes, its character, and a cuisine where meats and mushrooms take center stage.

The heart of the valley is located in Larraintzar, in northwestern Navarre, just 25 kilometers from Pamplona – Iruñea. The journey itself is idyllic, passing through green meadows, surrounded by oak and beech forests, and dotted with small villages of carefully preserved aesthetics.

Every village in the Ultzama Valley is worth a visit. Explore them at a leisurely pace and admire the large stone houses with gabled roofs, their arched doorways, wide eaves and generous balconies stretching across the façades. You will fall in love with their delightful traditional architecture.

Take your time and do not miss the heraldic houses of Zenotz and Eltso-Gerendiain, or a stroll through the historic centers of Eltzaburu and Arraitz.

Enjoy the open square facing the church in the farmhouse village of Ilarregi, the perspective offered by the main street of Iraitzoz, and the beautiful ensemble formed by the houses lining a stream in Auza.

Near this village, heading towards Eltzaburu, you will find a track leading to the Ultzama Stud Farm, 120 hectares dedicated to breeding thoroughbred racehorses.

The valley also boasts remarkable artistic heritage, such as the church of Urritzola-Galain, the Marian carvings of Belate in Alkotz, and the baptismal fonts of Ilarregi and Larraintzar.
